12/29/2011

Have had trouble downloading pictures so have not been posting.

A fabulous camp site. The price started at $35 for a pull through full hookup. Then it went down to $25 for a back in full hookup. Then he offered me a site for $15 water and elec. What a beautiful site.
The building is the bath house.

Wonderful bathroom facilities. How you use the hand rails when your on the toilet I have no idea.  You can reach them if you have extra long arms.

This is the other end of the toilet. No curtain, no nothing,

Monday, Dec. 19, 2011

Got up early to get some extra miles in. Had to make one stop at a Walmart to get some dog rawhide treats. If Dot does not get her 7 PM treat she really voices her displeasure. Walking back to the trailer to put her treats away one trailer tire looked low on air. When I checked it it was at 40 PSI. I drove to the tire and lube area of Walmart and borrowed a portable air tank to fill the tire. As I was filling it I saw why the tire was low on air. There was a nail in the tire. Unfortunity Walmart does not let their employees change trailer tires. That left yours truly to do the job. When I asked Gloria if she would do it she just rolled the window up and started laughing. I didn't know I had told a joke. I got the tire off and brought it inside and had to wait to get it fixed. Once it was fixed they told me company police is that they can not put more than 50 PSI into any tire. They did let me fill it the rest of the way up. Got the tire back on but lost all of the extra time we had.  Be in Texas tomorrow, but it is one hell of a big state to drive across.

2011 CrossRoads Factory Rally

The Rally is held in Shipshewana, IN,  a large Amish area. We had a great time at this year's rally There were 38 units and over 90 people. We have already made reservations for next year.
Some of the locals.

We even got Randy, the head guy at the factory repair center, to come out and do a quick fix.

We had to reward them with a beer.

On Thursday we had Pot Luck Dinner.

2 of the attendees had birthdays while we were there.

We all go to an Amish House for breakfast on Saturday.

We really packed their basement.

After a factory tour we went back to the campground for a forum with the big shots from CrossRoads.

We had a Bean Bag competition and Ron and I won.

Zoe, Karen and Larry Serantoni.

One of our Canadian couples, Rob and Sue Rees.

Rick and Pat Michels

The Amish fixed dinner for us on Sat. evening. I dressed for the "formal" event.

The Amish girl from the farm next door has made a friend of Cindy Reese. Shortly after this picture was taken the horse was spooked by a rabbit and took off running. Both girls left the cart and the Amish girl broke her arm

Sunday morning volunteers cooked breakfast for the attendees.

Rapid City SD

Saw a lot of flooding on the way south to South Dakota. These shots were from US Highway 29. The road was closed several mile south of our exit.
You're looking at sand bags.

The water was even closer to the road than it looks here.

We are at the Lazy J RV Park on a hill overlooking Rapid City

Rapid City lights up at night.

The cards are the ones he was holding when he was shot.

These is labeled as the chair that Wild Bill Hickok was sitting in when he was shot

This is a neat downtown area.

Custer State Park
This is the campground for the workers. They share the place with the buffalo.

Mount Rushmore is barely seen in the distance.

We caught a glimpse through this tunnel.

Ran into a road block.

They are gentle and always looking for a handout.

Now you can get a good look at the faces.

This walkway is the entrance to the park.

It doesn't look any different than the first time we saw it over 20 years ago.
Came across a guy who does some fabulous chain saw art.

After this we headed home.
