The Escapees 2010 Escapade, Goshin, IN

It's a good thing I knew how to get to the Fair Grounds as the GPS was sending all over the place. We figured out that I should not have set this trip up for a truck. When it was switched to a car it took us on the direct route that I was following. We got to the Escapade 2 days early and I was glad we did as we could get familiar with the layout. We signed up for a handicapped site with full hook ups. That put us right where the action was. When the Escapade started there were 796 units and with walk ins there were close to 2000 people there.

I spent most of my time taking the RV Boot Camp classes. A lot of the stuff I knew but I sure learned a lot also. I had classes on tire pressure monitoring, weight distribution. The fire safety class blew my mind. After watching the fire extintuisher demonstrations I got rid of the cheap Baking soda extinguishers that the manufacturer put in and bought foam extinguishers. I am waiting for the one that goes in back of the refrigerator. It will act like a sprinkler system. The majority of the RV fires start at the refrigerator. I spent so much time in classes that I didn't get to take many pictures.

This is the couple that started the Escapess Club. My membership number is 105407. Just to give you an idea of how much this club has grown. All of these people are not involved at once as they don't reissue numbers. I believe that the majority of the members are full-timers.

While I was in my Boot Camp classes Gloria was taking classes that interested her. She was in several computer classes. Spent a lot of money at the indoor and outdoor markets. There was a lot of stuff that I never saw at camper stores. Really would like to get to the next Escapade as we had a great time in Goshen. The next Rally is in Galette, WY. Would like to see what it is like there.
One more shot of Larry and Carol. We will be with them in the Valley this winter. The last thing that we did was have our rig weighed. They weighed our truck on Thursday and Friday when we were leaving they weighed both the truck and the trailer. Surprise, surprise! We are NOT over weight. We even have the left and right side of our truck and trailer at pretty much equal weights. I thought for sure that we would be over. Of course the party was over and so was my beer supply so that helped cut the weight down.

Went to Goshen early to have Strong Arm supports added to our trailer to stop some of the rocking in the trailer. When we went to the Crossroads Factory Rally we were offered a deal on them by Lippert Components Co. I was glad I had them install them as they had to move my spare tire to install the supports.  When we got to the Escapees Rally they had a deal there too but it was $49.00 more than what I paid.

We met up with one of the couples in our Texas Group, Larry and Carol. They were at home loading some food into the freezer in their trailer when they found out that the refer had crapped out. He got on the net and found one at a surplus place in Elkhart so he came down, unhitched and went to get it. Gloria and I had been at the Shipshewana flea market and got back to the campground just a few minutes before they got back. I helped Larry install the new refer.

The next day the 4 of us went to the RVMH Museum. Gloria and I were there about 3 years ago and they have added a lot of new stuff.  A lot of stuff from the 20 's, 30's and 40,s.

We are now heading to Goshen to the Elkhart County Fair Grounds for the Escapee Rv Club Escapade. Will post some more tomorrow.
